If you see a solid red light on your Greenworks battery charger, don’t panic. I for sure can understand how frustrating it can be. I mean, those things are cheap! But don’t worry, it can still be a small issue and there are a few things you can do to troubleshoot it.
First, make sure that your battery is properly seated in the charger. Sometimes, the battery may not be making a good connection with the charger, which can cause the red light to appear. Try removing the battery and reinserting it, making sure it clicks into place securely. If this doesn’t work, try cleaning the contacts on the battery and charger with a clean, dry cloth to remove any dirt or debris that may be interfering with the connection.
What Does a Solid Red Light on a Greenworks Battery Charger Mean?
Red light means something is wrong. Duh. You wouldn’t need me to tell you that. But if it is something that can be fixed or have to be replaced depends on the following troubleshooting steps.
Battery is too hot or too cold
If the battery pack is too hot or too cold, the charger will not charge it. You should allow the battery to cool down or warm up to room temperature before attempting to charge it.
We get very low temperatures in the winter and quite high in the summer. So in order to avoid damaging the batteries and the charger, I keep them both indoor in my garage. The temperature there is not exactly like in the main rooms but it will usually be between 63 in the winter and 77 in the summer. (The 80v mower I keep in the shed)
Battery is not placed properly inside the charger
This seems like the easiest reason but as far as I noticed, it is also the rarest. The reason it is rare is because greenworks did a pretty good job in make the grooves solid. In most cases, you will either put it in properly or fail to push it all the way through. If you won’t push it all the way through, you will not get a red light. You will not get any light at all.
Battery is damaged
If the battery pack is damaged, it may not charge properly. You should inspect the battery for any signs of damage, such as cracks or leaks. If the battery is damaged, it will need to be replaced.
Charger is not functioning properly
If the charger is not functioning properly, it may not be able to charge the battery pack. You should inspect the charger for any signs of damage or wear and tear. If the charger is damaged, it will need to be replaced.

How to Fix a Solid Red Light on a Greenworks Battery Charger
If you have a Greenworks battery charger and you see a solid red light, it could be a sign that something is wrong. Here are some steps you can take to fix the issue:
Reset the Charger
The first thing you should try is resetting the charger. To do this, unplug the charger from the power source and remove the battery from the charger. Wait for a few minutes before plugging the charger back in and reinserting the battery. If the red light persists, move on to the next step.
Replace the Battery or Charger
If resetting the charger didn’t work, the problem could be with the battery or the charger. Try using a different battery with the charger to see if that solves the issue. If the red light goes away, then the problem was with the battery and you should replace it. If the red light persists, then the problem is likely with the charger and you should replace it.
